Historic Shady Lane Wedding | Maddie + Jimmy

ROMANTICALLY UNDONE AUTUMN ESTATE WEDDING WITH BLUSH, PEACH AND MERLOT TONES

To say this wedding was important to me would be an understatement. Maddie and Jimmy have accomplished so much together, that I knew I needed to capture their wedding day perfectly in order to do them justice! Gosh, I hope I was able to do that!

This couple. This venue. Such goodness.

I've known Maddie and Jimmy since high school so of course I was shooting during cocktail hour just feeling like, "everyone here looks familiar and I'm not sure why..." because I'm older than all of them!! The de ja vu was intense all day! The way I know the couple is actually two-fold. Some of you know that my brother, Jed, fought cancer for eight years before he died in 2010. Jimmy, the groom, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in 2008. So while we didn't really deeply know each other, Jed and Jimmy were in treatment at the same time and we all lived in the same school district. It automatically makes you feel connected to people. Jimmy has had more than 15 surgeries, underwent chemotherapy, had his leg amputated in 2015 and probably a bajillion other things. On top of that, Maddie is a Program Manager for the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation. Seriously. Can you find a more incredible couple!?!? On a personal note, I have been so inspired by their love for each other and it meant the world to me to capture their wedding day. I may have cried. Oops.

These high school sweethearts have never let anything slow them down, get in the way of their adventures, affect their love for each other or dampen their bright smiles. Honestly, they're the happiest couple that I've ever worked with. I think there's something to be said about facing huge adversities together before you're married. I have never worked with a couple who were so calm and ready to be Mr. and Mrs.! Maddie and Jimmy were filled with excited anxiety on their wedding day. There were so many giggles and they were the most comfortable in each other's arms.

Maddie's event design was so beautiful and it was awesome to work with such a great team of vendors to make the Clark's wedding day perfect. I'm so excited to see what these two generous and kind people take on together next! Enjoy some of my favorites from the wedding day of the new Mr. and Mrs. Clark!
