Pink, Feminine, Practical Laundry Room DIY
It’s only taken me oh… a few months shy of a full year… but I finally got around to blogging our laundry room makeover! Admittedly, I have since added some art behind the door but I am far too pregnant to stage this room and photograph it again so we’re calling this one finished and I’m just going to show it off to you as it was when I first completed it!
Our laundry space is in the basement which isn’t my favorite. We’ve talked about moving it upstairs but there’s just no good space for it without moving a whole lot of walls and rooms around which, if we knew we’d be here forever, would be worth it in my opinion. However, we don’t know that this is a house we’ll live in for more than a few years so until we know for sure, the laundry will annoyingly stay in the back part of the basement - literally the furthest room from our bedroom.
It’s a large space, able to accommodate way more than what the previous owners had set up in there. The current washer and dryer came with the house and the flooring was done by the previous owners when they had the basement finished.
I got the wild idea of deciding to paint this Barbie pink because laundry should be a little bit more fun, right?! We installed cabinetry and a sewing table as well. The accent wall I brushed on by hand with high gloss untinted white paint and sponge brushes.
I spent a lot of hours at that sewing table making burp cloths for our baby and hundreds of masks really early on in the pandemic. All in all, it only took a few days to complete and now it’s a space that makes me feel cheery!
