A Rainy Downtown Charleston Engagement Session | Sara + Jeff

This engagement session almost didn’t happen!! But… let me rewind a little!

Much earlier in the year, Kyle and I booked a short weekend trip to visit Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC just to get away. When Sara and Jeff booked me to capture their 2021 wedding here in Pennsylvania, I knew that scheduling their engagement session might be tricky because they’re both busy and they live in North Carolina! They haven’t been living in Charlotte very long so it doesn’t have an abundance of special meaning to them yet so me traveling 8+ hours just didn’t make too much sense to them.

On a whim one night, I reached out to Sara and asked if she and Jeff would have any interest in meeting up with me while I was in Charleston so we could capture their engagement portraits. It was one of the only times that I could foresee us being in close proximity to each other before their wedding date. And… they accepted! I was so excited to be able to capture a session for such a sweet couple while I was in one of my favorite cities!

And then the weather blew in…

Oh my gosh. If you could have seen the amount of rain and wind that the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina were getting the days we were traveling… it was insane. I actually don’t have many photos from my trip because it was just too wet to lug my camera around while we got soaked. But I just kept having this intense feeling that it would all work out.

And it did.

Perfectly.

About 15 minutes prior to meeting up with Sara and Jeff in downtown Charleston, the rain stopped. I just stopped! The strong winds subsided into a steady breeze and the blowing rains took a break. It was absolutely perfect and we were able to enjoy several gorgeous blocks of downtown Charleston together!

Sara and Jeff will get married in February of 2021 at the Barn on Bridge up here in Pennsylvania! I cannot wait to see how tasteful and gorgeous their wedding will be and I have loved capturing their adoration for each other so far!
