October is, by a large margin, my busiest month of the year - every year. And despite all that 2020 has thrown at us in the wedding industry and at couples just trying to safely celebrate their love with their families, October has still been absolutely nuts. I’ve appreciated working at venues who take safety seriously and I’ve really learned which venues I don’t ever want to return to (even when we finally squash this pandemic). Chesapeake Bay Beach Club is a good apple. Their staff made the rest of the vendors feel safe this weekend even with a large, rowdy, excited-to-celebrate crowd for Alyssa and Chris’ beautiful wedding! Coronavirus is scary - love is not!

Alyssa and Chris are so, so fun. I found myself smiling under my mask for the entire day - even when things got hectic. They just bought their first home together, they love to travel, ski, spend time on the water and party with their friends and families. I knew their day would be a party to remember but I underestimated just how many fun and high energy people they knew! WHAT A GROUP! Our many hours of photography coverage flew by because this day was nothing short of fast paced and extreme energy!

Their bridesmaids and groomsmen were so respectful of us and so supportive of this incredible couple. It was wonderful to witness! The day started out with heavy, heavy rain that was seemingly endless on the radar. The forecast on all of the apps called for rain throughout the entirety of the day. While it was sprinkling for their first look, Alyssa told me that even if it was raining a tiny bit, she really wanted to take their family pictures outside if possible. When we started to round everyone up for those… I noticed that the sky had eased up and there was just a fine mist coming down.

By the time we needed to be taking their couples portraits… the SUN was peeking through! And even though their ceremony needed to be moved indoors because the lawn was really muddy and soaked through, there was an epic, hot pink and aqua sunset to make up for it! None of us anticipated being able to be outside at all that day and it was such a miracle that it happened.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Hedrick! I’m so happy for you!
