Congressional Club Washington D.C. Wedding | Janet + Brendan
I have struggled to find the words to describe Janet and Brendan’s wedding day. It was both deeply meaningful and ridiculously fun tied up with a beautiful little bow of gorgeousness. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a bride who laughs as much as Janet. Girlfriend is belly laughing at literally everything, constantly. Find me a more joyous bride… I dare you. And Brendan, he’s the kind, patient, extremely caring and thoughtful type - immensely devoted to Janet. They are peanut butter and jelly.
I met this sweet, sweet couple through my dear friends/2018 SSP couple, Bri and Bobby. How am I so blessed to have this many out-of-this-world couples?!? I was anxiously awaiting Janet and Brendan’s wedding for almost a year now and it did not disappoint.
You can tell that these two are loved and adored for just being themselves. I mean… hello… massive bridal party. Throughout the day I heard sweet stories of how this bride and groom go out of their way to show their love for the people in their lives.
And a special part of D.C. made the perfect backdrop for their celebration. If you follow me at all, you know that I’m a bit of a political history junkie. Capturing Janet and Brendan’s wedding at The Congressional Club, with such an awesome team of vendors, was a huge joy for me.
The Club is beautiful and historic. The only club in the world to be incorporated by an act of Congress, and at it’s founding in 1908 it was extremely progressive to sanction a female-run club. The purpose of the organization and the facility was to promote bi-partisan friendships among the wives of members of the House and Senate. Today, the Congressional Club’s ideals of inclusivity allow a space for current and former spouses of Members of Congress, the United States Supreme Court and the President’s Cabinet to promote volunteerism, facilitate bi-partisan efforts of charity, historical preservation and educational enrichment. Have you heard of the First Lady’s Luncheon? The Congressional Club has been hosting it since 1912!
The Congressional Club has recently opened its doors to the public for events and I have to say, the space is just absolutely gorgeous. It was the perfect backdrop for Janet and Brendan’s very personal and touching wedding ceremony and then their incredible party that followed. Even better… it’s right around the corner from Janet and Brendan’s apartment and the U Street neighborhood where we spent the day, means a lot to them as a couple!
Enjoy some of my favorites from Janet and Brendan’s District of Columbia wedding day!
