My Favorite Podcasts
I’m a huge podcast fan… honestly I probably listen to about 5-6 hours of podcasts every single day. I work from home and spend most of my workday totally alone (except for my sweet dog/office mascot) so I enjoy listening, learning and being entertained. I used to listen to music but I craved something that was a bit more enriching or entertaining.
My friends know that I’m a massive podcast fan and they’ll often ask me for recommendations so I wanted to share some here! Fair warning… I listen to mostly true crime podcasts (with a few from the creative business and news genres peppered in) so you true crime junkies, this is mostly for you! I often get frustrated with creative small business podcasts rather than inspired so there are only a few of those listed below.
There is a huge variety of podcasts styles listed below. Some include quite a bit of banter and chatting, some are very scripted and jam-packed with information, some are a bit humorous, some are filled with sensitive content. Everyone prefers a different style of presentation from the hosts so it’s often just a matter of finding one that works well for you.
I also prefer a mix of serial-style long form podcasts that cover the same topic for an entire season and ones that are covering a different topic on each episode.
Disclaimer: these are my personal recommendations! If a popular podcast isn’t listed here, it’s very unlikely that I don’t know about it and much more likely that I chose not to list it because it’s just not my cup of tea. This is an attempt at a more delicate way of avoiding questions about why I didn’t list XYZ podcast. And if you’re a creative, female, small business owner who loves the #girlboss and #girlbosshustle vibe… there’s one that is glaringly missing and that’s on purpose. Okay?
