Our Quick Disney World Getaway
Kyle, my husband, and I flew to Disney to do a really, really quick trip to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom at the end of January. I came home and ended up with the flu but we still had a wonderful time and it was a quick but incredibly relaxing trip. ICYMI, you can see some of my other Disney Posts here on the blog:
My Personal Disney World Trip Tips
4 Days in Disney World for a Disney Wedding
When I was in Disney for a Disney wedding in October, we didn’t have time to visit Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom and I really wanted to see both the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the new Pandora (Avatar) areas so after finding some really insane deals, Kyle and I planned a super quick, mid-week trip!
We rode everything that we had hoped to, I got to see my sweet friend, Blake, who works at Hollywood Studios, we secured a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance, did Rope Drop at both parks (waking up at about 5:00 AM both days) and drank our way through both parks. Our itinerary looked something like this:
Tuesday
3:30 AM: Wake up, find out flight is delayed, text dog sitter, go back to sleep
6:30 AM: Wake up again, get dressed and drive to the airport
8:30 AM: Arrive at the airport and wait for flight updates
12:40 PM: Flight finally leaves after being delayed
3:00 PM: Arrive in Orlando and get on Disney’s Magical Express to hotel
4:00 PM: Arrive at our resort, grab a beer, drop off our bags, change clothes, catch a bus to Magic Kingdom
4:30 PM: Use the Magic Kingdom monorail station to get to the Polynesian resort, have a Dole Whip with a shot of coconut rum, walk around the resort (this is where we’d stay when I was a little kid)
5:30 PM: Get a bus to Disney Springs
6:00 PM: Walk around Disney Springs, have dinner
8:00 PM: Do the VR experience, The Void, at Disney Springs
9:30 PM: Back at our resort and in bed
Wednesday
4:30 AM: Wake up, get dressed and go out to the busses
5:00 AM: Bus to Hollywood Studios, wait in a huge crowd of people for Rope Drop
7:00 AM: Park officially opens and we grab a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance (you have to be inside the park and do this on your app - they distribute all of the day’s boarding passes within just a few minutes of park opening and do not give out any more for the day)
7:30 AM: Get on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
— ride the rest of the rides throughout the day
6:00 PM: Reservation for drinks at Oga’s Cantina
8:00 PM: Leave Hollywood Studios headed to Animal Kingdom Lodge
9:00 PM: Dinner at Boma
10:00 PM: Head back to our resort for bed
Thursday
5:00 AM: Wake up, get dressed, get out to the busses
5:30 AM: Bus to Animal Kingdom
6:00 AM: Rope drop at Animal Kingdom
6:30 AM: Get on Avatar: Flight of Passage
— ride the rest of the rides throughout the day
7:30 PM: Bus back to our resort to catch our Magical Express to the airport
9:00 PM: Arrive at the airport
11:50 PM: Flight to Philadelphia
2:30 AM: Arrive in Philadelphia, go get our car
3:30 AM: In home and in bed
We were incredibly exhausted by dinnertime on Thursday and we were struggling to stay awake (it’s apparent once you scroll and see our selfies getting sadder and sadder). We had so much fun though and really needed the fun escape that this trip brought us. We have so much going on in our persona lives and it’s really, really stressful so being able to ignore all of that and have fun in Disney was such a gift. Enjoy a phone dump of some of my iPhone photos (quality is not the name of the game here) from our super quick trip!
